Spring Faves & Summer Shopping
Ashley’s Newsletter: Let’s talk Most Loved Spring Items & Summer Shopping!
Guys…how is it already May 31! I feel like this winter and spring completely flew by. I already feel like a new person now that I can go on a walk outside and feel the sunshine on my skin. Even though in Boston the weather changes every other day, I do feel fully defrosted.
While I’m looking forward to summer & have started my summer shopping for work and upcoming vacations, I want to share what my May favorites / most used items have been this spring.
Let’s get into it!
SPRING FAVES
This bag is buttery soft and has become a staple in my work bag rotation. I did buy a seasonal color - the bright red - because I am loving a red moment, but they have many neutral options and seasonal drops. I also love this brand’s story and how they use 100% sustainable materials, so it’s a win-win.
The Double Buckle Mary Jane in Java Chip - Rothy’s
I finally purchased my first pair of Rothy’s after hearing so much about them! I went in person to their store on Newbury Street in Boston and had so much fun trying on all the styles. There were so many to choose from and I had a really hard time narrowing it down to one, but I wanted to go with a timeless, neutral pair that would go with almost anything.
I went with these double strap Mary Jane’s in tan because I am loving this style shoe, especially to the office with a pair of jeans. They were really comfortable to wear into the office, however I don’t think they have a lot of support so I wouldn’t wear them for a day walking around the city. Just my preference! However I will be wearing them often to work.
Yellow Short Sleeve Cardigan - Free People
I have seen so many short sleeve cardigans and think this is a great piece to layer with in the warmer weather. Spring and summer are the perfect time to start incorporating some fun color back into your wardrobe for a pop of fun and it always puts a smile on my face.
I have been livinggg in these tee’s. I always reach for them whether I’m going on a walk or grabbing a tee to layer under a sweater going to work, they are just so great for everyday wear. I started with the long sleeve tee in heather gray and I have a navy and baby pink short sleeve tee.
Another basic- UNIQLO’S white tee’s. These are the BEST. They come in cropped and a tuckable length. They are pretty durable and a really great option if you’re looking for a good white tee shirt!
You’ve heard of overalls, and you’ve heard of barrel jeans…but combined? So freaking cute and comfortable. I got the off white color and I am obsessed! Such an easy thing to throw on and feel cute.
It’s been a few months since I’ve had the UltraHuman ring and I have been absolutely loving it. I love tracking my sleep, steps, stress levels, etc. and I personally like it a lot better than the apple watch. The apple watch would bother my wrist when I was doing yoga and I think the ring is a lot more sleek. I also love chunky gold jewelry so again a win-win over here.
HOME FAVES
If you know me, you know I work in the home industry and I think about redecorating my room and future home every other day. Here’s what I bought recently!
This candle lamp really elevates my room, gives my candle a cute home, and helps slow down the burn time of the candle. I love turning it on before I have friends or company over!
I recently purchased this because I removed my tv from my room and needed something to fill in the space on my console table. I am loving this as a replacement - it really brightens up the room and adds a touch of charm!
Okay… let’s get into food.
FAVORITE SPRING RECIPES
I have to share I did have a semi-viral recipe… whoop whoop! If you haven’t checked that out yet, click the link HERE!
MAPLE SEA SALT ICED LATTE
This is for my coffee lovers: Botanical Springs infused maple syrup. They are made small batch out of Vermont and truly taste like the best quality you could get. I pour a little bit in my cup with a sprinkle of sea salt to brew the espresso over. Such an easy way to make a sea salt maple latte!
BANANA ALMOND BUTTER SMOOTHIE
This has been my go-to breakfast recently because it’s filling and satisfies a sweet tooth.
Here’s the recipe:
1 frozen banana
1 cup almond milk
1 spoonful almond butter
Blend! That’s it. So easy and simply.
SUMMER BERRY AND GOAT CHEESE SALAD
Okay this salad comes back around every summer and for good reason. It’s such a good way to utilize summer berries, get your greens in, and use goat cheese which I absolutely love. I have a recipe here on how to make this!
SUMMER SHOPPING LIST
As I’ve started browsing for summer, I’m looking at what’s trending but also what items can be timeless and outlast the trends.
SQUARE TOE & LEATHER FLIP FLOPS
I am honestly not a huge fan of flip flops - I usually gravitate towards my rubber birks in the summer, but I have a feeling I’m going to have a flip flop summer. I’ve seen square toe flip flops and leather / elevated flip flops trending and I think I can get on board. Here are some examples:
Haviana’s square toe flip flops
Dolce Vita elevated flip flops
Steve Madden leather flip flops
Old Navy faux leather flip flops
Going off of that, I’ve also seen a lot of shoes that incorporate woven materials. I’ve been eyeing so many shoes from Sam Edelman, like these sandals, these slide sandals, and these heeled sandals.
BATHING SUITS
My favorite brand is Monday Swimwear but recently I’ve been eyeing Elysiian - will have to come back with a review!
Okay, that’s everything I have to say for now… stay tuned for more summer favorites and packing lists! (I’m going to some really exciting places this summer…hint hint: you’ll be seeing some Scandinavian fashion inspo!)
