How to Spend 3 Days in Capri, Italy
Why you should visit this beautiful island
If you’re looking for gorgeous views, crystal blue water, and amazing food and drinks…Capri is the place to visit. It’s an island off of the coast of Italy, frequented by celebrities, honey-mooners, and tourists. Only a 30 minute boat ride from Sorrento, it’s a very popular destination and for good reason. Full of breathtaking views, fabulous shopping, and delicious meals, it’s time to pack your bags and visit one of the most beautiful places on earth. Read more below to see how I spent 36 hours on the island!
The best times to visit Capri: May, September, October.
We visited Capri in late April and the weather was perfect - it was in the high 60’s / low 70’s, sunny, and not too crowded (compared to the summer time). One of the most unique things I noticed about Capri is the symbol of the lemon. The moment we stepped foot on this island, we were surrounded by lemons the size of our heads. Limoncello, lemon slushies, lemon bowls, lemon everything. Lots of limoncello was consumed this trip. The bright and cheerfulness from the lemons was echoed throughout the island and the people.
Where we stayed: Hotel Weber Ambassador
The roads are narrow, one-way, and windy, so the last thing you want to do is rent a car. But not to worry - convertible taxis are available to take you around the island! We stayed at Weber Ambassador which has a shuttle available from different areas of the island up to the hotel. The hotel shuttle ran every 20-30 minutes to the center of town and stayed running until 1 AM. When we first arrived by ferry, the taxi met us at the port and helped with bags then brought us up to the hotel to check in!
I would recommend this hotel over and over. We stayed in a room with a walkout balcony with the most fabulous view I have ever experienced. The view was enough for me to be satisfied with this hotel but it had a pool, a small private beach, friendly staff, and delicious wine.
Our first night consisted of checking in to the hotel, checking out the breathtaking views, then changing for dinner! We had dinner at Capricorno- started with the caprese salad and then I ordered the gnocchi. All the food & wine was delicious.
On our second day, we woke up early, got ready, and headed down to the hotel breakfast that served coffee, fruit, toast, jams, and more. The best part was the view that overlooked the ocean. Again, I would stay at this hotel again just for the views.
We took the taxis down to take a boat ride around the island. We did this through Capri boat tours - there are many companies that offer a boat ride around to see the island’s natural beauties such as the White cave, Coral cave, Green cave, Blue grotto, and many others. It’s must-do if you want to see the caves, turquoise water, and love rock up close. The beautiful thing about Capri is that there simply isn’t a bad view.
After the boat ride, there is plenty of shopping & eating to be done. We grabbed a limoncello slushie and hit the shops. We quickly worked up an appetite and stopped for lunch at one of the many restaurants with outdoor seating along the walking path- Pompeiana di Luigi Federico Bar. We shared a delicious and fresh caprese salad and a champagne shrimp risotto.
After lunch, we continued to walk around and shop and bought a locally-handmade straw hat. We went on a stroll to the Giardini Di Augusto - The Gardens of Augustus. I highly recommend walking down to the garden if you have time, these were the best views of Capri in my opinion. On our walk back, we stopped for pistachio and stracciatella gelato, of course.
On our third and last day in Capri, we took a bus to visit Anacapri. Anacapri is located on the western side, and it much more elevated than Capri (hence its name) and far less touristy. We took the Monte Solaro chairlift which provides the BEST views of Capri. It’s truly a must-do on your trip! Anacapri had a few stores as well, so we strolled in and out of them - eyeing some beautiful shawls and sweaters - before heading to our next destination. Ciao for now!
XOXO,
